The brand's history originates from the Byzantine times. The water was one of the favorite drinks of Theodora empress according to the legend.
Kékkút is located in the region of the Balaton Upland National Park in the heart of the Káli Basin. Kékkúti factory has been existing since the beginning of the 20th century. The mineral water bottling started in 1907. The name of THEODORA was used for the first time in 1921 and has been a trade mark since 1985.
The company was taken over by Nestlé Waters in 2000.
Theodora mineral waters derive from the Káli Basin, one of the most beautiful and harmonious landscapes in Hungary and home to the perfectly reserved Balaton Upland National Park. Both mineral water types – Theodora Kereki and Theodora Kékkúti are bottled carefully on site without spoiling the balanced mineral water and trace element composition.

Kékkúti Ásványvíz Zrt. is the market leader in the mineral water market in Hungary since 2004. The company closed 2007 with revenue of HUF 12bn, and sold 171m liters of mineral water last year. The company's flagship brand, Theodora mineral water has been also keeping its illustrious market position since 2004.
Theodora was selected two times as the 'Most Trusted Brand' in the past years in the mineral water and soft drink category by Reader's Digest subscribers and also won Superbrands status in 2007- awarded by communication professionals to brands with strong consumer trust.

Theodora Kékkúti is calcium-magnesium-hydrogen carbonated natural mineral water which contains several essential minerals. 1,5 L of Theodora Kékkúti mineral water covers 52,5% of the recommended daily amount of calcium and 28,5% of magnesium.
Natural mineral water extracted from the well Theodora Kékkúti is uniquely sparkling (natural carbonated).
Theodora Kereki has a softer taste; its mineral content is similar to Theodora Kékkúti but it is mildly sulfatic. 1,5 L of Theodora Kereki mineral water covers 27% of the recommended daily amount of calcium and 17,2% of magnesium.

The quality assurance experts of Kékkúti Ásványvíz Zrt. regularly analyze the mineral and the microbiological content of the products under the supervision of the competent authorities. In the bottling plant at Kékkút, the company has established its own laboratory where they test their mineral waters in the process of production and even before being transported to the market.
The mother company, Nestlé Waters, operates a Water Technology Center that is unique in the food industry. In the Center, mineral water sold by the company all over the world is analyzed according to a wide range of aspects.
The bottling company also holds quarterly a detailed analysis by Central Lab Vittel for 260 chemical contaminants like heavy metals & pesticides.
